Continuous Radon Monitor (CRM):The preferred test of home owners concerned for their family's Radon Exposure. EPA protocols require a monitor to record the data every hour for a minimum of 48 hours, using closed house conditions. Results from continuous monitor detectors can be downloaded immediately, so they are often the preferred method for quick and accurate results. This is the only method of Radon detection, where the use of a single detection device is allowed under EPA protocols for real estate contracts, and is the short term method used by A1 Healthy Homes.
Long-Term Test: Tests remain in your home from 91 to 365 days.
Alpha Track Detectors
Alpha track and electret detectors are commonly used for this type of testing. A long-term test will give you a reading that is more likely to tell you your home's year-round average radon level than a short-term test. The long-term method of Radon detection, with the use of simultaneous (2 or more) detection devices is allowed under EPA protocols for real estate contracts, and the Alpha Track monitor is used by A1 Healthy Homes.
